RIGHTEOUSNESS AND ETERNITY
The dual theme of Righteousness and Eternity stands at the very centre of divine revelation, forming a continuous thread that runs from the opening chapters of Genesis to the closing vision of the book of Revelation. Righteousness defines who God is and how He acts, while eternity reveals the ultimate horizon toward which all divine purpose moves. These two realities are inseparable. Righteousness is not complete until it is eternally established, and eternity is not meaningful apart from righteousness.
The Holy Scriptures consistently present righteousness as an essential attribute of God. The Hebrew term tsedeq and the Greek dikaiosynē both convey the idea of moral perfection, justice, and covenantal faithfulness. Deuteronomy 32 verse 4 declares, “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.” Righteousness, therefore, is not a standard external to God; it is intrinsic to His nature. Every act of God in creation, providence, judgment, and redemption flows from this unchanging reality.
At the same time, Scripture reveals a profound tension:
